Ryder Sternagel was only 11 months old when his doctors diagnosed him with stage four neuroblastoma. After deciding to take an integrative approach with his healing, Ryder’s parents discovered that many of their friends, family, and doctors were not supportive of their choice. So, they created a Facebook group and—encouraged by the support of strangers—found the confidence, resources, and comfort they needed to fuel their son’s recovery. Today, Ryder is cancer free.

Adjunct professor Kathryn Alexander was in her early 60s, had no health insurance, was divorced, and had just lost her son to suicide—when she was diagnosed with stage three liver cancer. Thankfully, her church community rose up to provide emotional, social, and financial support. Still cancer free 15 years later, she credits her incredible recovery to their selfless assistance.
